Movie Review

Since nothing of real excitement has been going on here lately, I thought I would just share a few movies that we have watched with you! I know, this might be a little boring to some of you, but hey, my life is only SO entertaining! A movie, the couch and nobody asking me 1000 questions is my idea of *wonderful* right now! Jeremiah's parents have been taking the boys on Friday nights lately, which is such a blessing, so we have gotten some free time to catch up on some movies I have been wanting to see. Yes, these were not high on Jeremiah's list, but, being the good sport he is, he watched most of them anyway! I think our next one will be Get Smart (anybody seen it?), since that is on HIS list. Bear with me, I have yet to figure out how to get anything but a thumbnail picture of some things on the internet (if anybody can clue me in, that would be great) so these might be kind of hard to see. OK. A few weeks ago, we watched this:

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. CUTE. FUNNY. British, so you have to listen close, or you can't understand what they are saying....which is WHY you watch it when no children are around. Not to mention, there is ONE, tiny naked behind shot in the very beginning(!). OOPS. Anyhoo, good movie and sweet. I liked it! It tells the story of a plain Miss Pettigrew, who can't seem to cut it in the nanny business and gets fired from the placement agency, only to slyly sneak in to a "social secretary" job that she hears about on her way out the door. She meets a woman who is entertaining four different men at once, but is in love with only one. It ends perfect, but I won't spoil that!
This last weekend, we watched this:

Anybody seen this? It was a great movie, and alas (surprise), I cried. I love Queen Latifah...much better actor than rapper. Jennifer Hudson was great, and so was Dakota Fanning. And, could Alicia Keys get any MORE beautiful? Even with a 60's afro, she is still so pretty. It takes place in 1964 in the deep south, where of course, racism was at its worst. The Civil Rights Act had just been passed, but it seems it took awhile for that to catch on. The movie tells the story of a little girl who is looking for love from a motherly figure. The story line was good, a little intense at times, but really good. I kept thinking about this for days. The discrimination these people went through was ridiculous! And the people who put them through it were just plain EVIL I think. I just can't wrap my mind around how you could be so MEAN to someone just because of the color of their skin. Blows my mind. I hope they did some serious repenting or we all know where they are.

Anyway, before I get to far up on my soapbox, I will quit, and say that if you are looking for something good to watch, check these out. The men in your life will not be to interested, but hey, everyone needs a chick flick now and then. Enjoy.

Check this out....

Hey friends! Doesn't this picture make you smile? I love to get together with my girlfriends and talk about all that "stuff" we do...one of my favorite things! Just thought I would share this blog site with you...I found it on the advice of another friend, and I just LOVE it! She has the coolest pictures on her site, and I love her style!

I think this one is the coolest! I bet canning this way would be a blast, and would make the time and mess go by so much quicker! It does get a little quiet and boring alone! I love the idea of women bonding this way...and to think that there was a time that this was the norm in society...ahhh, would have loved to have been there. I am a firm believer in the fact that women of this day were much stronger in mind and body than we are today...they had to be in order to survive. Things that were nothing to them seem overwhelming to us girls these days. I think there are alot of lessons to be learned from looking back. I have a picture hanging in my kitchen of my Grandmother and the other ladies in our family in 1942...on those days when I am feeling particularly wimpy, I am reminded that my life is pretty easy! They didn't even begin to have all of the modern conveniences that we have today, and yet they made their homes welcoming, their meals delish and their children and husbands happy by showing their love through hard work and faith.

So, if you get a chance, check out www.sugarpiefarmhouse.com and enjoy! She has some cool product reviews on there, as well as cute ideas she uses in her home. Here's to us girls!

Kendyl Kuties...

Forgot to post these funny pics from last week when Kendyl visited for the day...thank goodness the boys were home from school to help keep her entertained. I am afraid Aunt is just kinda boring by herself....

This seat is really cool, and kept her occupied while we ate lunch. She has a bad habit lately of pulling her sockies off, so I gave up after a few hours...not to mention she spit up on one of them and we didn't have any spares!
EVERYTHING goes in the mouth....

Why didn't my boys have designer binkies?

Justin was doing his best to make her laugh...I am thinking she doesn't think the disgusting "pull up my eyelids" trick is funny.... Jared loves to hold her....as long as she isn't crying...then he goes into STRESS mode! Check this out...I love this shot!

Guess who got her next? Love you Kendyl!

Easter Happenings....

Wow! Easter is here and already almost over! We had a wonderful day with friends and family, and ate too much awesome food. I feel like I barely got ready in time...I did get the house somewhat decorated...

The eggs are boiled and in the frig...yet to be colored...

I left the Easter Bunny's key out where he could get it...

Clothes were pressed and ready to go for this morning...
Phweeeew! We even made it to church early, with hot dish in car ready for dinner afterwards! The boys really wanted to eat chocolate and play with their new tractors, but alas, it was time for the dreaded "dress up" !!

They were naturally not to thrilled about being so "gussied" up today, but I am hanging onto the fun of dressing them up once a year just as long as I can! I did choose to not get Jared a matching sweater, although he was sweet and said he would have worn it...but I figured he is a little past the whole three matching Amigos bit....

They of course could not WAIT to change into their play clothes and take off outside at the farm...it ALMOST killed them to wait all the way through dinner. WHATEVER. Sheesh, just let me look at you so cute for just 2 minutes! Man!

Anyway, it was a good day, and now they are in a "too much candy" sugar coma on the couch watching a movie. Hope you had a most Blessed Easter holiday! He is Risen!
